Shadow Home Secretary to open Intertek’s new textile facility in Leigh
Inspection and certification firm Intertek is launching its new textile testing site in Greater Manchester later this month, with Andy Burnham MP set to open the facility.
Based in Leigh, the centre will include textile flammability testing space and a new chemical laboratory, bringing Intertek’s textile analysis services together under one roof.
The facility, which will test textiles ranging from protective gear and sportswear to children’s clothing and fashion apparel, will be opened by the Shadow Home Secretary on April 22.
Intertek will also use the centre for analysing items such as pillows duvets, furnishings and curtains for the UK’s retailers and manufacturers.
The site is expected to create a number of new jobs, although the exact number has not been confirmed.
Headquartered in London, Intertek employs more than 38k people across 1,000 sites around the world, with operations in over 100 countries according to its website.
