Chesterfield Student Wins Dream Role at Dakota Digital

Chesterfield student, Robin Mears has seen a voluntary two week work placement turn into his dream job after scooping a role at fast growing digital PR and content agency, Dakota Digital.

The journalism and politics graduate requested a two week placement at the Mansfield firm to add relevant experience to his CV during his job search. He was offered a full-time role as a Junior Copywriter after impressing during the placement.

Based in Mansfield, Dakota Digital is a vibrant creative agency with an impressive roster of clients – it has produced content for the likes of Neutrogena, Majestic Wine, Compeed, Splenda and Listerine and is working with England Rugby ace, James Haskell and pop idol, Gareth Gates.

Robin said, “After completing my degree I wanted to focus on PR and marketing because I like the idea of being behind messages and strategizing ways to reach new audiences. I choose to do work experience with Dakota because they have a really exciting mix of clients in a wide range of industries and I thought it would allow me to learn a lot more about PR and marketing without being tied to a single sector. I’m exceptionally excited about working at Dakota Digital, I think it will give me a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and learn about new concepts in the digital world.”

The new role comes at a busy time for Dakota Digital, following an office move to dedicated premises in September, which was conducted with the help of a Mansfield District Council business growth grant, and several high profile client wins.

Managing director, Rebecca Appleton said, “We were really impressed with Robin’s work and his attitude during his work placement and delighted to be able to offer him a full time role with us. He’s already proven to be a valuable asset to the team and we look forward to helping him develop with further training opportunities.”

A hybrid PR and content agency, Dakota Digital spans the divide between offline PR and online digital marketing. Services include PR, blog post writing, social media management and online marketing strategy. It has reported a huge growth in sales and staff in the last 12 months and continues to go from strength to strength with ambitious plans for 2016 and beyond.
