Head of Steam launch creates 30 new jobs in Sheffield city centre

30 new jobs have been created in Sheffield city centre due to the launch of Head of Steam Sheffield.

The new venue, located on Norfolk Street, is owned by Camerons Brewery - the ninth largest single brewery in the UK.

Camerons Brewery invested a six figure sum to redevelop the former Old Monk pub – the company’s first pub in Sheffield.

It has become Camerons’ eighth branded Head of Steam location within its retail estate of more than 70 venues across the North, following on from the addition of its second Head of Steam location in Headingley, Leeds.

As a result of the launch, up to 30 bar staff roles have been created.

The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Talib Hussain, was on hand to open Head of Steam Sheffield.

Councillor Hussain said: “I was delighted to officially launch the Head of Steam Sheffield, which will add to our city’s vibrant leisure community and aid our local economy through the creation of 30 jobs. I would like to wish Camerons Brewery all the very best for the future.”

Chris Soley, director and general manager at Camerons Brewery, added: “I would like to thank Councillor Hussain for officially launching our latest Head of Steam venue in what is a momentous occasion for Camerons, with the opening of our first pub in Sheffield.

“We have invested heavily in growing our retail pub estate outside of our traditional North East roots and hope to continue this period of expansion and serve even more customers in Yorkshire and the North.”

Camerons has continued its working partnership with Longhorns Barbecue Smokehouse, which will oversee the running of the kitchen at the new venue, and deliver a smokehouse BBQ offering.

Mr Soley added: “Our plan is to develop the Head of Steam Sheffield into one our flagship establishments with great food, entertainment and a variety of drinks for customers to enjoy, including 16 craft keg lines, eight handpulls, including beers from local and North East brewers, plus a selection of over 100 world and craft bottles.”
