JCT600 will be the official car supplier of the Tour de Yorkshire.

Tour de Yorkshire to hit the road with JCT600’s Mercedes-Benz fleet

JCT600, the Bradford-based car retailer, will once again be the official car supplier of the Tour de Yorkshire.

The company will supply every official vehicle for the cycle race‎, partnering with Mercedes-Benz to provide a fleet of over 40 vehicles from the prestige marque.

The six in-race cars will all be Mercedes-Benz C-Class models.

JCT600 was founded in 1946 as Brooklands Garage on Sticker Lane, Bradford, by current chairman Jack Tordoff who subsequently built it from a single dealership into the largest privately owned business in Yorkshire.

Jack’s son, John, is chief executive of the £1bn turnover business which now has 50 dealerships representing 18 of the world’s leading car marques; and employs a 2,300-strong team.

John Tordoff, chief executive of JCT600, said: “Following the success of last year’s inaugural Tour de Yorkshire, we are proud to once again lend our support to one of the region’s biggest sports events. With over 250,000 people turning out to watch the first stage of the race last year, it is a hugely popular event and a fantastic showcase for Yorkshire.

“This year’s race promises to be even better and we’re particularly looking forward to the final race day in Scarborough when we will be at the seafront, close to the finish line, with our Mercedes-Benz stand displaying a range of the latest cars - visitors will even be able to use configurators to digitally build their own Mercedes-Benz!”

Sir Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, added: “JCT600 and its cars helped to make the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire a huge success. Their cars have become synonymous with the race and I am delighted to welcome them on board for another year.”

The Tour de Yorkshire covers 515.5km and will take place on 29th and 30th April and 1st May.

Stage 1 on Friday 29th April starts in Beverley and finishes in Settle. Stage 2 on Saturday 30th April starts in Otley and finishes in Doncaster, with the women’s race taking place on the same day and, for the first time, on the same route as the men’s race. Stage 3 on Sunday May 1st starts in Middlesbrough and finishes in Scarborough.
