Hired With Only an Online Profile!
Hired Online Without Handing in a CV!
Online applications have been around for quite a while now, however they typically involve searching your files, deciding on a version and then uploading a CV - often followed by a series of varying company application forms.
It appears that the application process is now changing. One company is even using snapchat as a method of recruitment!. The world is moving online, and businesses are now happier to connect with job seekers directly on the internet.
Shark Club Newcastle Hire Using Online Platform
Shark Club Newcastle are one of the businesses who have started to use the new online job platform called Feritt to hire new staff.
“We were looking to fill full-time and part-time bartending and waiting staff positions.”
“We wanted an application service that would help us attract the right people and part of this was portraying the right image online,” Jodie, Senior Assistant GM, Shark Club Newcastle.
Many people find that applying for jobs can be time consuming and tricky, but an online service makes this a lot easier.
“Applying to jobs can be quite daunting for some applicants,” Jodie Agreed. “A simple service like Feritt allowed us to have a balance of professionalism and friendliness, in turn helped us find great applicants.”
“The online CVs made our job much easier. We always knew where to find our applicants and knew we could connect with them straight away.”
Many businesses aren’t shying away from looking for job seekers online, and this suits those looking for work. More and more people are becoming familiar with social media and the internet, and they are using it to help them access more information and connect with people they might never have been able to reach before.
Constantinos Moyseos, a 24-year-old Newcastle University student was recently employed at Shark Club without handing out a single CV and performed the whole application process online applying using the Feritt platform.
He said: “The online CV is such a relief.”
“I don’t like writing CV’s, I don’t think anyone does, however Feritt’s job platform guided me to build a great profile (online CV) in about 5 minutes.”
“After building my profile, I applied to 2 jobs and was offered 2 jobs within 5 days after using the online messaging,” he explained.
Being offered two jobs through an online platform demonstrates the power of digital technology in the recruitment world.
However is there a concern that this becomes less personal?
‘Not at all’, says Constantinos.
“I did take the direct personal approach and spent two long weeks walking around bars and cafes trying to find work,“he explained.
“And everyone said ‘We will give you a ring’ and I am yet to hear back.”
“As soon as I was on Feritt two business got in touch. Using my online CV I was able to show much more of me, compared to an old school CV. And the 100% communication direct with the employer made it so easy to communicate with them, in a way making it more personal.”
“The online method here was actually more personal for me and helped me find work so much quicker and helped me save time, and whilst I’m studying, time is my biggest asset.”
“I am now working at Shark Club along side my studies and absolutely loving it!”
Constantinos’ and Shark Clubs’ story is just one of the many ways technology is helping connect people in the world today in all sorts of ways.
One of the founders of the new job search and application site, Feritt.co.uk, Oliver Woods, CEO, believes: “The internet is great for not just connecting people from one side of the world to the other but connecting people in a small geographical area.
“We identified this within the hospitality industry and wanted to help employers and job seekers that were tired of not having a specific avenue to go down in order to connect, especially when applying for jobs.”
“We use features that are prominent in everyone’s lives now in order to facilitate this connection. Online profiles, which in our case is an online CV, and instant messaging. These are now things everyone is familiar with - and has made our lives much more efficient.”
“We have been amazed by the positive response and take up of the site and its features, it’s simply about connecting employers in the hospitality industry in Newcastle to our rapidly increasing numbers of registered job seekers.”
