Manchester City sign new Chinese tech partner ahead of July clashes
Ahead of their games in Shenzhen and Beijing this summer, Manchester City have entered a new deal that sees Asian entertainment brand Whaley become the club’s official China-based TV partner.
Under the agreement, which follows another signed late last week with Chinese lighting firm PAK Lighting, City will produce exclusive 4k content to showcase Whaley’s tech offer.
Further, players’ shirts will feature the Whaley brand during the clashes with Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund in July.
Ferran Soriano, the chief executive officer of MCFC owner City Football Group, said of the partnership: “We are very pleased to add Whaley to our family of Chinese partners, reflecting our growing commitment to and presence in that market.
“Whaley is a great entertainment brand, committed to creating immersive experiences for Chinese families and millennials and we are confident that we can extend those experiences to City fans across China.”
He continued: “We are looking forward to working together in the years ahead, and particularly when we visit China over the summer.”
Commenting on the agreement, Whaley CEO Huaiya Li said the firm is “delighted” to be involved in MCFC’s upcoming China visit.
He continued: “We are both fast growing brands with innovation at the heart of everything we do.
“We are extremely excited by Manchester City’s plans to develop their presence in China and believe we can create some fantastic content for our consumers through our cutting-edge technology.”
