Raft of new retailers sweetens the deal for The Broadway in Bradford
Bradford’s newest shopping destination The Broadway, is set to welcome a raft of new retailers to the 570,000 sq ft centre.
Meyer Bergman, the owner of The Broadway, has announced that there has been an exchange of several new retail deals, with the likes of Urban Chocolatier, Smiggle, Select, HMV, and Millie’s Cookies.
Now 93% let, the centre is in talks with a number of high profile international retailers, with the expectation that the remaining few units will be signed up in the coming months.
The Broadway has signed international stationery retailer Smiggle to a 542 sq ft store and the confectionary retailer Urban Chocolatier to a 931 sq ft store. Both stores are the retailers’ first outlets in Bradford, and significantly for Urban Chocolatier, it is just its third store in the UK, the first outside of London.
HMV, the specialist retailer of music, films and games, will open a mezzanine of 7,950 sq ft on the ground floor level next to Debenhams and the fashion retailer Select will take 3,552 sq ft within Broadway Bradford. The nationwide cookie bakery Millie’s Cookies will also take up a 258 sq ft store.
These deals follow a series of new signings earlier this year, which includes the major 35,000 sq ft cinema The Light and six other retail and food operators such as Ann Summers, Pandora, Patisserie Valerie and Pizzi.
Renee Moran, asset manager and vice president at Meyer Bergman, said: “Broadway Bradford continues to grow and establish its position as a major shopping destination following its successful opening in November 2015.
“Since the beginning of the year there’s been a real energy from retailers about the opportunities available to them at Broadway Bradford, with strong interest shown in becoming part of the centre’s success. We are focused on continuing to bring new and diverse brands to the city and setting the benchmark for shopping centres in the UK.”
CBRE and Central Retail acted for Meyer Bergman on the deals.
