PegasusLife teams up with Seddon for first Northern development

Bolton-based building firm Seddon has been chosen by PegasusLife to deliver the property developer’s first development in the North.

The project, known as Chapelwood, will see Seddon create 57 apartments in Wilmslow with styles inspired by the local Victorian mansion houses.

Designed by Birmingham- and London-based firm Glenn Howell Architects, Chapelwood will be built on the site of a former manor house and comprise two-bedroom apartments for people aged over 60.

Howard Penstone of PegasusLife, the development director for Chapelwood, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Seddon to bring the PegasusLife philosophy to the north of England.”

The site will incorporate a central combined heat and power plant to deliver an independent energy supply, in addition to a restaurant, lounge, gym, sauna, hydrotherapy pool and treatment room.

Howard continued: “At Chapelwood, we’re creating more than just apartments: an extensive wellness suite, delicatessen and guest suite for visiting friends and family, reinforce our commitment to creating socially inclusive communities, designed with specific sites and landscapes in mind.”

The development is due for completion in 2017.

Ed Wootton, who was appointed recently as Seddon’s director for North West construction, commented: “Having been appointed to two major retirement living contracts in such a short space of time demonstrates that we are one of the key providers in this market when it comes to realising an innovative design.

“We are proud to play a part in Chapelwood’s development and look forward to working with PegasusLife.”
