New tech startup PiiiCK to alleviate the stress of online shopping
Two North West entrepreneurs have teamed up to launch PiiiCK, a technology startup that aims to simplify the process of online shopping.
Kate Drewett and Roberto Simi, both of whom have worked at the helm of Manchester-based digital agencies for a number of years, are now focussing their efforts on their latest venture to help people save time while searching for goods online.
Discussing the thinking behind PiiiCK, Kate said: “Shopping for household things like white goods and electrical items has become really complicated.
“There is so much choice, so many subjective product reviews – as well as the products themselves becoming more complex – it has all made buying everyday stuff feel very stressful.”
She added: “Just ask anyone who has shopped for a washing machine recently, it can take weeks to research.”
Speaking further, Kate said the PiiiCK ethos is about more than just shopping, as it stemmed from a belief that people’s live can be simplified by adopting a pragmatic approach to tasks that take up time.
Kate continued: “People are so busy and our leisure time is precious – we’d all rather be spending time with friends and family than researching products. This ethos extends internally as well - we firmly believe in a real work life balance.”
Now, PiiiCK’s five-strong team is working remotely across Manchester, the Peak District and Oxford to create its core offer and develop the brand.
Roberto commented: “PiiiCK is a simpler way for people to shortlist suitable products quickly, wherever they are – browsing on the sofa at home, when they’re out and about, or in store.”
The PiiiCK team are in the process of applying for seed funding, with a view to officially launching later in 2016.
