Sports science graduate launches fitness startup for women

A new company providing fitness training geared towards women has launched in Manchester.

Co-founded by sports science graduate Jade Mottley, Fierce Fit will aim to help women achieve their fitness goals by adopting a holistic approach to training as opposed to focussing on end results.

The company’s offer includes a mix of fitness classes providing high-intensity workouts and team-based circuits, as well as personal training and various other health-related services.

Entrepreneur Jade, who is also the brains behind fitness company Performance For All, graduated from Bangor University in 2012.

Commenting on her new venture, she said: “Fierce Fit is the first programme of its kind in Manchester and we believe our approach to fitness will meet the needs of many women across the region.

“So often I have people come to me, show me a photo and say ‘I want to look like this’. Having a goal in mind is important but fitness needs to be more than an end result.”

Jade added: “I know there are barriers as to why some women don’t exercise including convenience, motivation and engagement, so we tailor our training to the individual and what she needs.”

Helping Jade achieve success with Fierce Fit is personal trainer Kat Heyes and a number of other therapists, including physiotherapists and massage specialists.

To get her new business off the ground, Jade took part in the Entrepreneurial Spark accelerator programme offered at NatWest’s office on Hardman Boulevard in Manchester, after hearing about the programme through a networking event hosted by the bank’s entrepreneur development manager, Gemma Kirby.

Speaking further, Jade said: “Joining Entrepreneurial Spark has given me the space I need to really focus on my vision for the business and what I want to achieve.

“I am surrounded by people who are doing different things but there is this great energy in the hub and you feel like you are a part of something bigger than your business.”

NatWest’s Gemma Kirby called Fierce Fit “a brilliant concept” and said she is confident it will resonate with women all over Greater Manchester.

Gemma added: “Jade and her team have a clear vision for what they want to achieve and will no doubt be an exceptional asset for those who decide to use their services.”
