Five residential deals that prove Yorkshire is the place to be

During my time as Bdaily’s Yorkshire editor, it has became clear that our region is fastly becoming one of the most business-savvy areas in not just the North, but in the whole of the UK.

Whilst Yorkshire’s budding tech industry, startup scene and central role in the Northern Powerhouse initiative are constantly exciting us, perhaps the most obvious sign of a region on the up is through the physical development of the built environment around us.

As Yorkshire’s economy and business community grows, more and more people will be wanting to call God’s Own County their home.

£142m regeneration scheme to transform three Leeds neighbourhoods

In April, brownfield land was freed up for the development of around 1,000 news homes, which will lead to the regeneration of three east Leeds neighbourhoods.

Leeds City Council agreed a deal with housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat and Strata to transform communities in Seacroft, Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe with an investment of £142m.

As well as providing new homes across 13 sites, jobs and training opportunities will be made available.

Citu unveils plans for £125m Climate Innovation District in Leeds

Earlier this month, sustainable development company Citu unveiled its vision to create a Climate Innovation District in Leeds.

The £125m development, which forms part of the city’s major South Bank Leeds regeneration plans, will incorporate more than 500 new low carbon homes alongside manufacturing, leisure, offices and climate resilient public realm.

The Climate Innovation District will form a collaboration with local and international partners to deliver a model of how to economically build zero carbon neighbourhoods that also provide healthier, smarter and better connected cities.

Avant Homes to deliver 470 new homes in South and West Yorkshire

Avant Homes is set to build 470 new homes across three new sites in Pontefract, Wakefield and Barnsley.

The trio of sites have a combined value of over £92m, representing a significant investment in the region.

The housebuilder will construct 160 homes on a 12 acre site in Pontefract off Cobblers Lane providing a collection of two, three and four-bedroom townhouses, semi-detached and detached properties.

In Wakefield, 137 three, four and five -bedroom townhouses, semi-detached and detached properties will be built on a 10 acre site off Bar Lane.

Avant Homes will also deliver 174 two, three and four-bedroom townhouses, semi-detached and detached properties on Carr Green Lane in Mapplewell, near Barnsley.

Redrow to build 300 new homes at Thorpe Park Leeds

In February Thorpe Park Developments Ltd, a joint venture between Scarborough Group International and Legal & General Capital, agreed a deal to sell a 20.3-acre development site at Thorpe Park Leeds to Redrow for the delivery of up to 300 new homes.

The deal with housebuilder Redrow forms part of a wider plan to deliver the residential element of a mixed use scheme in phase two on the 200-acre site in East Leeds.

Redrow’s Yorkshire operation will develop housing with an anticipated finished worth of almost £70m.

Keepmoat to deliver a 227 property residential scheme in Hull

Keepmoat, the housing and regeneration specialist, is currently building a new housing scheme at Hawthorn Avenue East, Hull.

Work is underway on the 227 property development, which is part of Keepmoat’s ongoing work with Hull City Council to regenerate the Newington and St Andrews area of Hull.

Working in partnership with the Council, Keepmoat is set to deliver the next phase of the regeneration project, building in excess of 1,000 new homes following the demolition of existing substandard homes.
