Liverpool Vision, the economic development company chaired by the city’s Mayor, has attracted £90.8m in private sector investment and created 1,131 jobs over the last 12 months, according to new data.
The firm’s latest annual review has highlighted its role in maintaining the Liverpool City Region’s place among the top five UK cities for tourism and conferences.
Further, Liverpool Vision has built a media profile worth £4.1m and drummed up around £1.2m in income for the city’s hotels, leisure attractions and other venues.
Events secured for the city by Liverpool Vision over the last 12 months include tourism supplier event Explore GB and the Labour Party Conference.
Mayor Joe Anderson said: “Liverpool Vision’s performance during the past 12 months is good news for the City Region and demonstrates the continuing progress we’re making in attracting more jobs, investments, visitors and conferences.”
“Vision is an important part of my plans to deliver economic growth.”
He added: “Invest Liverpool, Marketing Liverpool and International Festival for Business 2016 are all making the City Region more competitive and improving our international profile.”
Liverpool Vision is the organisation behind the International Festival for Business 2016 (IFB2016), a global conference backed by a number of national and international firms, including telecoms giant BT and US tech firm Google. Coming to Liverpool in June, the event is anticipated to draw more than 30k people to the city.
Liverpool Vision’s chief executive, Max Steinberg, commented: “It’s been another successful year for Liverpool Vision.
“New jobs and private sector investment are obviously a big factor in the company’s success, which benefit the whole City Region, as does the growth in visitor numbers and major conferences we have witnessed during the past year.”
Mr Steinberg continued: “Our expanding presence at MIPIM and increased profile of IFB2016 have opened new opportunities for businesses in Liverpool City Region.”
