New 120-place nursery coming to Preston
A day nursery with enough space for 120 youngsters is set to be built in Preston after planning and development firm PWA Planning secured the go-ahead for the scheme.
The new site, developed for local school and nursery operator Ashbridge and designed by Preston-based architects Bramley-Pate and Partners, will be constructed on land to the north of Lightfoot Lane in Fulwood.
Plans for the nursery were revisited and resubmitted after originally being refused following concerns over access to the site.
The nursery, which will be Ashbridge’s fourth, will be built across two floors. Delivery will come in two phases, with the first creating a 44-place nursery and the second increasing capacity to 120. Further, the plans include landscaping that will create new play zones and a parking area with space for 33 vehicles.
Katie Delaney, an associate with Preston-based PWA, said: “This new nursery fits perfectly into the North West Preston Masterplan which seeks to build up to 5,000 new homes in the area.
“Approval of the plans means that the provision of an excellent nursery facility, which will complement the housing proposed for the area, is now confirmed.”
She continued: “We are pleased that Planning Committee has now acknowledged that the scheme would represent appropriate and sustainable development and that a safe and convenient access can be made available.”
