A new boardroom at the Tickled Trout

Macdonald Hotels reveals £50k refurb at Preston’s Tickled Trout

Macdonald Tickled Trout Hotel in Preston has invested a five-figure sum to overhaul its conference centre.

The hotel has revealed the results of a £50k project to renovate its 10 meeting rooms with new upholstery, install a range of new murals and upgrade its breakout area.

Following the revamp, the break area now features a six-metre landscape image of the River Ribble, while each boardroom features old scenes of streets in Preston with quotes on time from a number of famous writers and business leaders, including Dr Seuss, William Shakespeare and Steve Jobs.

The entrance to the conference centre, meanwhile, has been decorated with a map of Preston dating back to 1900, displayed opposite a modern map of the city.

Macdonald Tickled Trout Hotel unveiled the new conference centre at the Gathering of the Clans, a meeting of more than 70 Lancashire business leaders held in partnership with the Federation for Small Businesses and Downtown Lancashire.

The revamp coincides with the launch of a new time-focussed Macdonald Meetings product, which includes a new booking system, delegate packages and an enquiry turnaround time of 30-minutes or less.

Macdonald Tickled Trout Hotel’s general manager, Bethan Johnston, said: “The Downtown Gathering of the Clans event has gone from strength to strength since we held our first in October 2014.

“Therefore it felt fitting to launch our new meetings product and show off our upgraded conference facilities at one of our get-togethers.” She added: “It was integral that the theme of time formed a major part of the evolution of our meeting and conference offering.”

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, which this year marks 25 years in business, operates a UK-wide network of 45 hotels.
