Inside the new AC Hotel Manchester Salford Quays

Marriott expands AC Hotels into UK market with new Salford Quays site

Marriott International has opened a new AC Hotel in Salford Quays, one of two that mark the brand’s first foray into the UK’s hospitality sector.

AC Hotel Manchester Salford Quays will be managed by leisure firm Valor Hospitality Europe, along with another site in Birmingham, and offer 142 rooms in addition to three meeting spaces catering for up to 100 guests.

Valor Hospitality Europe MD Brian McCarthy said: “It is fantastic to be working with Marriott to deliver the very first AC Hotels by Marriott hotels in two of the most celebrated commercial, shopping and cultural destinations in the UK.”

Founded in 2014, Valor’s expansion strategy will see it aiming to manage 50 hotels over the next five years with support from MCAP Global Finance Ltd, a UK subsidiary of US-based investment advisory firm Marathon Asset Management.

Marriott International’s regional vice president for international hotel development in Western Europe, Tim Walton, commented: “These two properties are wonderful examples of our commitment to opening lifestyle hotels in thriving urban destinations where we see growing demand from increasingly discerning and style-conscious travellers.

“The regenerated areas of Manchester’s Salford Quays and Birmingham’s Mailbox complex fit the AC Hotel brand’s progressive, urban design ethos perfectly and we are extremely proud to launch the UK’s first AC Hotels in these two flourishing locations in partnership with Valor Hospitality Europe.”

The new hotels in Salford Quays and Birmingham have launched as part of a wider plan to open more than 22 AC Hotel sites globally in 2016.
