Small charities fight back
New research shows that over one in five small charities see closure as likely. Declining funds (26%) combined with a rise in workload (32%) means small charities lack the fundamental resources to stay open*.
Small Charity Week is back, June 13-18, in a hope to provide free support and advice to struggling small charities across the UK. Whether it be improving knowledge, raising awareness, taking part in fundraising initiatives to raise vital funds, or networking with policy makers and influencers: the week has something for everyone.
Pauline Broomhead, CEO of the FSI, the charity behind Small Charity Week commented: “Without adequate solutions to minimise small charity skills gaps, more charities will struggle to meet their beneficiaries’ needs or be forced to close.
The lack of resources in the sector is evident, so Small Charity Week aims to raise awareness of this and provide much needed support for small charities“.
The week kicks off with I ♥ Small Charities Day, a day to raise awareness on social media of the constant hard work by small charities across the UK. Day two is Big Advice Day (14 June) a national London event and various regional events where small charities can access expert 1:1 advice on a variety of topics.
Policy Day (15 June) reception will be held in Admiralty House, Westminster. It will be an opportunity for small charities to meet policymakers, MP’s, officials and other small charities to talk about key small charity sector issues.
Fundraising Day (16 June) sees various initiatives including the Fundraising Conference headlined by Alan Clayton, offering small charities the opportunity to learn from experts at an all-day event in London.
Volunteering Day (17 June) aims to bring volunteers and small charities together by providing a platform for both parties to meet and share ideas, such as networking and speed matching events.
Finally Celebration Day, 18 June, closes with a day to celebrate small charities everywhere.
