£10m Wavertree care home investment to create over 165 jobs
Merseyside developer Elliot Group will help create dozens of new jobs and increase south Liverpool’s elderly care offer after ploughing £10m into a new care home.
When it opens later this year, the new Royal Oak Care Home in Wavertree will take on 125 full- and part-time members of staff.
Following an 11-month build period, which is due to round off at the end of July, building firm Impel Contractors also created more than 40 construction jobs.
Ian Kimberley of facility operator Care Home Management commented: “Our philosophy is to put ourselves in our clients’ shoes and imagine what they and their families would want.
“That means more space, more experienced staff and more of a say in their own care or that of their loved ones.”
He added: “It’s common sense and it strongly differentiates us from other care providers.”
All rooms at Royal Oak will be en-suite, while the building has been designed with wide corridors to aid patient movement. Further, the care home will feature a rooftop terrace offering views of the Liver Building, the newly expanded Anfield Stadium and the Welsh mountains across the Dee Estuary.
Ian continued: “We’ve held extensive discussions with the Care Quality Commission and factors such as our landscaped gardens and great views are acknowledged as having positive impacts on residents.”
Royal Oak residents will comprise a mix of private and state referrals, with care focusing across the core areas of nursing, dementia and residential.
Commenting on the eight-figure investment, Elliot Group boss Elliot Lawless said: “We have brought our development skills to bear on a key sector with cracking results.
“The city needs more higher quality elderly care and I expect this to be the first of several such projects with Care Home Management.”
Elliot Group is the developer behind a number of construction projects across the North West, including a £50m residential tower within Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle and a £70m project to create 300 new homes across two towers in Salford.
