Conlon Construction completes Warrington academy in biggest school project to date
Building firm Conlon Construction has finished work on its biggest school project to date – a new multi-million pound Warrington campus for King’s Leadership Academy.
Over the last 10 months, Preston-based Conlon created a 73,194 sq ft building with space for 840 students for the free school, which is part of Great Schools Trust.
Funded through the Regional Contractors Framework by the Education Funding Agency (EFA), the site was designed by Altrincham-based Pozzoni Architecture.
Conlon Construction chairman Michael Conlon said: “Our experience in delivering education projects has enabled us to fast-track the construction programme and assist King’s Leadership Academy to take ownership of their new building.
“This school has excellent design values tailored to meet the aspirational education ethos of the Academy.”
He continued: “We believe the high standards of construction and finish support the character of the school while delivering a practical learning environment within budget.
“We’re delighted to have been involved in such an inspirational school scheme.”

The building, built on greenfield land, features a double-height colonnade and a glazed central atrium to each wing in addition to its main entrance.
Conlon’s creation will replace the school’s temporary home at the Bruche Community Primary School site on Seymour Drive.
King’s Leadership Academy principal Shane Ierston commented: “It was vital that we were able to take possession of the new building before the summer recess and we have been impressed with Conlon’s project management, attention to detail and communication throughout the programme, which have given us the peace of mind of knowing that the build was on track.
“We’re delighted with the results and the students cannot wait to move into their new school building!”
