Trio of businesses secure move to former Emmerdale mill
Three new deals have been completed at Sunny Bank Mills, the Yorkshire mill complex where ITV’s Emmerdale and Heartbeat were once filmed.
Yorkshire companies Samplephonics, Children’s Corner Childcare and Sue Wilson Photography are all set to relocate to the refurbished mills in Farsley, between Leeds and Bradford.
Samplephonics, an online music production platform, is taking 615 sq ft of office space at 10 Mending Rooms; Children’s Childcare Corner is moving into 1 Sandsgate, taking 539 sq ft; and Sue Wilson Photography is expanding within the mills into the 650 sq ft 3 Old Combing.
William Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, the owners of Sunny Bank Mills, commented: “These three deals are excellent examples of quality businesses being attracted to a quality business environment. The versatility and flexibility of space here is attracting an exciting breadth of occupiers.
“Specifically the decision by Samplephonics to expand, and Sue Wilson to relocate, within Sunny Bank Mills is a resounding endorsement of our development. We now have over 70 companies on site, creating more than 300 sustainable jobs, and with space to double that, our ambition is to become the largest centre of employment in the area.”
David Rose of Samplephonics added: “We are launching a new brand called Noiiz and will be building a new software development team over the next year, as well as creating a meeting room and separate directors office for both Samplephonics and Noiiz. As a result, we now have 1,500 sq ft of quality space at Sunny Bank Mills.
“We love Sunny Bank Mills, which has an extremely positive and welcoming vibe, a rich history and an interesting and creative collection of tenants. Not to mention the food at Mill Kitchen!
“The Gaunts, as landlords, are really great, personal, accommodating and genuinely helpful people who are realising an ambitious and noble vision. Compared to previous work spaces we have rented, the Gaunts’ personable approach is a breath of fresh air and genuinely makes for a better working environment.”
Lesley Dawson of Children’s Childcare Corner said: “We are a chain of children’s nurseries and childcare services who are continuing to expand. We felt we needed some separate office space to provide admin support for all our managers and to have our own space for our training and staff meetings. We are delighted with our quirky office space at Sunny Bank Mills.
“Sunny Bank Mills has very obviously been transformed with much thought and consideration, and to a very high standard. I looked at alot of office space before we saw Sunny Bank and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted our new offices to be there.
“It offers a really professional impression for our customers and staff, and is light and airy creating a relaxing but productive space in which to work.
“In addition we have catering facilities on site, a board room and the gallery, all unique benefits for those working at the Mills. We are delighted with our office and would thoroughly recommend Sunny Bank Mills to anyone looking for work space.”
Sue Wilson of Sue Wilson Photography, who has taken 625 sq ft of studio space, concluded: “When I first saw Sunny Bank Mills, I fell in love with it. I had looked at various other business premises in the Leeds area and none could compared with Sunny Banks in terms of atmosphere, attention to detail and quality of space. It is perfect for my business.
“It is also a great location, with attractively renovated units, the Mill Kitchen next door and within easy reach for most clients. I work for all sorts of clients from large ad agencies to small start-ups, shooting food and still life and my new premises are ideal for this.”
