Bury workwear firm targets turnover growth with six-figure funding

Workwear and personal protective equipment firm Wardwear is looking to unlock growth after securing six-figure funding from Yorkshire Bank.

The Bury-based business will use the funding package to expand its range of stock, boost sales and increase its turnover by 50% over the next 12 months.

Wardwear recently relocated to a two-storey property and is targeting walk-in business for the first time through its new retail showroom.

The funding was facilitated by Paul Williams, a relationship manager based at Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Bolton.

Jason Ward, who owns and operates the company alongside his twin Scott, said: “When seeking a funding partner to help us maximise our new location and expand the company, we were impressed by the lengths that Paul and his team went to really understand our business and provide the right mix of facilities to suit our needs.

“As a new business, managing cash flow can be a challenge but our new funding package will enable us to keep on top of our finances while assisting our growth aspirations.”

He added: “We look forward to developing a strong banking relationship with the knowledgeable team at Yorkshire Bank.”

Wardwear is a provider of safety clothing, tools and first aid equipment. The firm is among the local businesses sponsoring League One side Bury FC, supplying the club’s workwear and high-vis clothing.

The head of Yorkshire Bank’s Manchester operations, Sean Williams, commented: “We’re pleased to welcome Wardwear and look forward to working in partnership with Jason and Scott.

“Our in-depth experience of growing businesses has enabled us to develop a wide range of initiatives to support ambitious SMEs such as Wardwear.”

He added: “Our team know the local economy and have spent a great deal of time getting to know Wardwear so I’m confident that we can help Jason and Scott to achieve their growth plans.”
