Manchester’s theatrical Hotel Gotham rounds off recruitment drive
Hotel Gotham is hoping to take on 20 new members of staff by the end of the summer in a bid to drive growth and boost its occupancy rates.
The Manchester-based five-star hotel has undertaken a recruitment drive as it prepares to embark on its second year in business and deliver its aim of becoming a go-to venue for city breaks and dining.
Over 100 people came to its recruitment day to secure roles such as waiters, chambermaids, receptionists, porters, bartenders, chefs and restaurant management. In addition to their day-to-day duties, staff would be expected to take on a supporting role to the hotel’s main acts.
Occupying a former bank on King Street, Hotel Gotham is known for its theatrical approach to leisure and hospitality with guests greeted by a cast of characters, including Lord Salford, Lady Didsbury and Bellboy Barry.
Mario Ovsenjak, the 60-bedroom hotel’s general manager, said: “We had an incredible first year and we’ve been overwhelmed by the response from guests.
“We’re known for our stand-out personality, exceptional customer service and, of course, our Gotham glamour, so our team needs to reflect this.”
He continued: “We were extremely impressed by the level of talent we saw at the auditions and were bowled over by the effort people went to in order to show what they can offer Gotham.”
“We’re now looking to take Gotham to the next level – our current occupancy rate averages around 90%, but we’re confident that we can boost this further by the end of 2016.
Speaking further, Mario said he believes the new staff members will play a “key role” in bringing Hotel Gotham’s growth plans to fruition.
