Nelson-based halal skincare firm announces Middle East expansion
Lancashire-based skincare products firm The Halal Cosmetics Company has officially launched in the Middle East.
With the help of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the Nelson-headquartered business has made its entire skincare range, from organic body wash to anti-aging creams, available across the Gulf region.
The Halal Cosmetics Company said the majority of its first delivery is already reserved due to high demand from retailers based in the United Arab Emirates.
After exhibiting last year at the Beautyworld trade fair in Dubai, the firm agreed to work alongside UAE trading company NovoCeutix, which introduces niche concepts and products to the world’s emerging markets.
Salma Chaudhry, director of The Halal Cosmetics Company, said: “We are very excited to have NovoCeutix as our representing partner in the UAE.
“It is a brand that understands not only the importance of halal to Muslims, which is our main growth driver, but also that the innovative formula and ingredients used in this premium skincare product are widely appealing to a cross section of the population, both Muslim and non-Muslim.”
Sandra Thornber, an international trade adviser and Middle East specialist with UKTI North West, who has assisted Salma since she launched the business three years ago, said she is delighted with the entrepreneur’s success in the UAE.
She continued: “Salma and her company are an example to other companies looking to crack this market – you need to take a long-term view when endeavouring to penetrate Gulf markets. Salma has done just that and it has paid dividends.
“I am pleased that the UKTI teams in both the North West and in the UAE were able to assist The Halal Cosmetics Company in this process, but ultimately it was Salma’s patience, tenacity and unwavering belief in the quality of her products that has led to her success.”
Sandra added: “We look forward to continuing to work with her to develop new export markets in the future.”
