Butcher chain Crawshaws invests £500k in Southport and Burnley stores
Butcher chain Crawshaws is set to create dozens of new jobs in the North West this month with the launch of its 48th and 49th stores.
The Rotherham-headquartered company is investing £500k in a new store in Southport, which opens this month, and another in Burnley opening in August.
The expansion will create 40 new jobs.
Both stores will measure 2,300 sq ft, with the Southport site taking over the old The Body Shop unit in Marble Place Shopping centre and the Burnley store in the former JD Sports unit at The Charter Walk shopping complex.
Crawshaws’ CEO, Noel Collett, said: “The North West is an important area of growth for us, we have recently opened four stores in the last six months in the region and we are looking forward to delighting more customers with our fantastic range of fresh quality produce at everyday low prices, priding ourselves on being 35% cheaper than supermarkets.”
Andrew Sloman, BID manager of the Southport BID, commented: “We’re delighted with the investment Crawshaws is bringing into the the heart of Southport town centre.
“To attract a high quality retailer such as this is great news for Southport, as we continue to see exciting new investment, they add something new to Chapel Street”
The store openings form part of Crawshaws’ wider strategy to invest £200m in 200 stores, creating 2,500 jobs nationally, by 2022.
In the last six month, the company has created more than 100 at sites across the North West.
