Knockout day for region’s learning providers!

The Greater Merseyside Learning Providers’ Federation (GMLPF) brought 20 of the region’s learning providers together for the first networking event of its kind this weekend.

Taking place at Liverpool Cricket Club, GMLPF hosted the ‘Summer Games’ team-building event for over 150 of its members. Learning providers took on the We’re a Knockout inflatable obstacle course inspired by the It’s a Knockout TV Show.

The local umbrella organisation for skills providers, GMLPF represents over 95 training providers across the region. The organisation shares best practice, helps members adapt to the shifts in the local and national skills landscape and provides a single voice that represents its members’ views and priorities.

The day began with a well-being warm up from Saeed Olayiwola from So Health, a consultancy which develops bespoke health and well-being programs for schools and workplaces.

Saeed Olayiwola, says: “At SO Health we believe Health and Wellbeing should underpin all that we do and that organisations have a responsibility to support staff towards a healthy lifestyle. We commend Greater Merseyside Learning Providers’ Federation on their commitment to supporting staff health and wellbeing in a fun innovative way.

“We are delighted to have been part of such a fun complete health and wellbeing promoting event and look forward to supporting more organisations in the future.”

After the warm up, the We’re a Knockout obstacle course got underway and saw providers go head-to-head with other GMLPF members, tackling different team activities leading up to the grand finale. The Vocational College reigned supreme and took home first place, Mode Training came close second while Employability Solutions came third.

Members taking part on the day included TTE Training, Jelli Studios, Asset Training, Mode Training, DH Associates, Rocket Training, Shaw Trust, The Vocational College, Young Peoples Opportunities Project (YPOP), JM Education, NWCS, Dianthas, Alt Valley, CTS Training Ltd, Employability Solutions Ltd, Joint Learning Partnership Ltd, TPM, Mercia Partnership, Aigburth Training Opportunities (ATO) and Interserve Learning and Employment.

Thirteen young apprentices from Mode Training and YPOP also helped out on the day as volunteers. They assisted We’re a Knockout with the different team games and helped with the overall running of the event.

James Glendenning, CEO of GMLPF, says: “The day was a great success and brought together over 150 people who are passionate about the training and apprenticeship landscape in the Liverpool City Region.

“To make sure that we deliver the best possible service as an industry, it is essential that learning providers have a strong support network available to them. I hope that the Summer Games was the ultimate representation of this and we can continue to offer more events throughout the year which brings our members together.”
