Gateley Plc raises over £3,000 for local charity
The Leeds office of national law firm, Gateley Plc, has raised £3,355.53 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Numerous fundraising events were held during a 12 month period ranging from energetic endurance events such as the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to more relaxed and leisurely events such as the Partners Cocktail Making Event.
The firm raised £1,026 when a team from the office completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. The team successfully tackled the tough route, taking on the three highest peaks in Yorkshire: Pen-y-Ghent (691m), Whernside (728m), and Ingleborough (723m).
The office showed its energetic nature again when raising £449 by competing in the firm’s Tour de Gateley. This event saw Gateley bring in the exercise bikes, with optional lycra, and link up six of the firm’s seven English offices, to see which office could complete a race of similar distance to that of the firm’s share price on the day.
William Ballmann, Head of Gateley’s Leeds office, commented: “I am proud of the office for raising such a fantastic sum of money for an incredible charity. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance does a lot of great work in the region and provides a valuable, life-saving service, and at Gateley we are committed to supporting the communities in which we work.”
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was set up in 2000 and was the first Air Ambulance in the UK to own and operate a Dedicated Air Desk in the UK, with a second Air Ambulance added in 2007.
The fast medical response that the Air Ambulance service provides is vital to a patient who has received major trauma, especially those with head and spinal injuries, as the Air Ambulance can avoid traffic congestion and uneven road surfaces.
Kerry Garner, Regional Fundraising Manager for West & South Yorkshire at the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: “We would like to thank Gateley Plc for their fantastic donation. As a charity we are reliant on the generosity of individuals and organisations like Gateley Plc.
“We only receive help through secondment of paramedics from the NHS, through Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, and to keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances in the air we need to raise £12,000 per day. So donations like this are vital for ensuring we can keep providing this vital service.”
Gateley Plc, which last year became the first law firm in the UK to go public, recently revealed that it expected revenues to hit at least £66m for its 2015/16 financial year in a trading update for the 12 months to 30 April 2016.
