The Food Warehouse boosts Northern presence with three new stores
Property developer and investor The Derwent Group has secured deals with retailer The Food Warehouse at three of its sites across the North West and Yorkshire.
At White City Retail Park in Trafford, The Food Warehouse has signed a 10-year lease on a 12,228 sq ft unit, set to open this October.
Additionally at JunctionNINE Retail Park, on Winwick Road near Warrington, the company has agreed terms on a 13,000 sq ft unit, also on a 10-year lease. The JunctionNINE store opened earlier this month (July 6).
The Food Warehouse is also set to open a new store in Hull, on Anlaby Retail Park, where it will open in a 9,931 sq ft unit this October after signing a 10-year lease for the property.
First launched in 2014 by British supermarket chain Iceland, The Food Warehouse brand has expanded to encompass 19 stores across England and Wales.
The managing director of The Food Warehouse, Richard Walker, said: “We’re delighted with the three new sites we’ve secured with The Derwent Group.
“It’s no secret that the grocery market has changed as of late, and our new store formats perfectly compliment the change with our low price and quality produce shopping environments.”
He added: “All three sites will welcome our new format stores which have been designed with natural tones and textures to help showcase the quality of our products.”
The Derwent Group’s senior asset manager, James Maule-Ffinch, hailed the deals as “fantastic” news for the three schemes.
He commented: “We’ve agreed a number of cross-scheme deals with retailers recently including Guess How Much and M&S Foodhall and we’re continuing to stay close to retailers to understand what their national and, more particularly, their northern requirements are given the spread of our extensive retail portfolio.”
