Pochin’s Ltd to build 90,000 sq ft base for Scottish Power company
North West construction firm Pochin’s Ltd is set to build a 90,000 sq ft development for energy supplier SP Energy Networks, part of the Scottish Power group.
The scheme, being delivered at Pochin’s 450-acre Midpoint 18 business park in Middlewich, will include 17,500 sq ft of warehouse, office space and yard facilities.
Once complete, the site will serve around 65 of SP Energy Network’s technicians, field engineers and office staff, operating alongside its existing Middlewich facility on Dalton Way.
SP Energy Networks’ district manager, John Heathman, said: “Middlewich has been home to our North West operations for more than 15 years and long may it continue.
“This new site at Midpoint 18 will enable us to better accommodate the staff needed to support our growing customer base and we’re proud to be partnering with Pochin’s, another Middlewich business, for its delivery.”
Work on the development is due to begin this month.
Pochin’s CEO Jim Nicholson said of the deal: “Midpoint 18 has long been an attractive location for businesses with significant distribution operations in the North West.
“To date, it has delivered over 1.5 million sq ft of mixed employment space and over 2,000 jobs, so it’s fantastic to see another business of SP Energy Network’s calibre taking up residence.”
He continued: “While the construction element of Pochin’s is currently thriving with projects across the North West, we’re extremely pleased that our investment portfolio continues to grow and provide new opportunities for development in the region.”
