Halifax’s Northern Powerhouse Developments acquires The Queens Hotel in Llandudno
Halifax-based Northern Powerhouse Developments has completed the acquisition of The Queens Hotel in Llandudno.
Located on the promenade between the Great Orme and Cymru Conference Centre & Theatre, the hotel consists of 83 letting rooms, 2 ballrooms, 2 restaurants, a public bar, two passenger lifts as well as car park and patio area.
Gavin Woodhouse, chairman of Northern Powerhouse Developments, was behind the purchase of The Queens Hotel.
Gavin commented: “We are delighted to have secured ownership of this iconic hotel and are looking forward to continuing the success the Devoy family have enjoyed for nearly 40 years.
“The Queens enjoys an enviable position in the heart of this famous seaside town and together with our hotel management group Giant Hospitality, we plan to invest even further in the hotel to ensure it attracts the next generation of holidaymakers.
“Northern Powerhouse Developments, who also oversaw the £6m refurbishment of the neighbouring boutique Llandudno Bay Hotel last year, have received huge credit for their sympathetic development of hotels in north Wales and across the UK.”
Leisure property specialists Fleurets acted on behalf of Devoy Hotels in the marketing of The Queens Hotel. The property’s virtual freehold was sold off a guide price of £3m.
Gavin added: “It is our intention to build upon the success the Llandudno Bay Hotel has enjoyed, and while The Queens will attract a different type of guest we want to make it the ultimate destination for families to come and stay and enjoy all that Llandudno has to offer.”
In addition to the Queens and Llandudno Bay Hotel, Northern Powerhouse Developments also secured ownership of two other hotels in north Wales with Caer Rhun Hall and the Belmont Hotel completing an impressive portfolio.
