Yorkshire dental group acquires third practise with £1.6m fund
A Yorkshire dental group has acquired its third practice due to a £1.6m funding package from Yorkshire Bank.
Shaikh and Latif, established by dentists Arif Shaihk and Mudasser Latif, recently added Johnson and Whitehouse Dental Surgery in Chester to its chain.
The duo, who went into partnership in 2013, now have plans to expand the dental practice and create new jobs.
The deal was delivered by Richard Couldwell, relationship manager in Yorkshire Bank’s South Yorkshire Customer Banking Centre.
Arif said: “We have ambitious plans to increase the number of dentists based in our Chester practice, where we focus on providing comprehensive preventative oral health care together with a wide range of treatments.
“We already see hundreds of patients monthly, but as the practice is located in a high need area we believe we could help many more people in the local community to care for their oral health.
“We’re grateful to Yorkshire Bank for recognising the opportunity in Chester and for supporting our growth plans. Their knowledgeable team not only understand the industry, they have also taken the time to get to know our business in-depth.”
Arif and Mudsasser have been Yorkshire Bank customers since 2013 when they acquired their first dental clinic, Wilthorpe Park Dental Surgery, in Barnsley.
The following year, the business bought a second practice, Baker and Rigby Dental Surgery, which is located in Dewsbury.
Since acquiring Johnson and Whitehouse Dental Surgery, Arif and Mudsasser are now aiming to incorporate a fourth practice by the end of this year, with a view to creating a chain of about 10 clinics.
Derek Breingan, head of healthcare at Yorkshire Bank, said: “Arif and Mudasser are highly experienced dentists with ambitious growth aspirations and a strong business plan.
“Our deep experience of the healthcare sector and commitment to delivering hands-on support has enabled us to help them expand at a rapid but sustainable pace.
“We’ve developed a great partnership with them over the past few years and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to develop and grow their business.”
