Social impact platform Change.org to ‘harness power of video’ with Wochit
Cloud video startup Wochit, which has offices in London, is to partner with UK social impact platform Change.org as it looks for ways to engage more people in its social change campaigns.
The partnership will see Change, which helps activists organise social justice campaigns, utilise the New York-headquartered tech firm’s cloud-based video creation platform to deliver shareable video content to its 150m global users in a move that it says will ‘leverage’ the power and virality of social video content.
Wotchit already counts major clients including The Week and Time Inc. among its big-name clients.
Following a successful three-week trial, Change have now rolled out its Wotchit implementation to its regional platforms in Spain, France, Indonesia and the US, and says more locations will now follow.
Citing the tech firm’s ability to rapidly produce and distribute socially-optimised video content, Change.org’s Global Head of Communications, John Coventry, said the social impact organisation is hoping to tell more persuasive stories through video.
He said: “We’ve been searching for a tool we can use to deliver high quality, highly shareable video content at pace and scale.
“With Wochit’s tools and content library, we’re able to quickly, easily and effectively tell persuasive stories through video and amplify their impact through social channels. We’re just getting started, but early tests are highly promising and the future for our video content looks incredibly bright.”
Video is quickly becoming the predominant way to deliver content online, with 69% of all consumer internet traffic predicted to come from video by 2017.
Founded in 2007, Wochit aims to capitalise on firm’s looking to take advantage of the growing demand for video content online, which the tech firm’s Director of Business Development for EMEA describes as an increasingly ‘essential part’ of the way we experience current events and the world around us.
“We are honored our platform was selected by Change.org and look forward to contributing to positive social development,” he added.
