£1m care facility in Doncaster creates 80 new jobs

80 new jobs are expected to be created as a new £1m specialist care home for adults with learning difficulties and complex needs has opened in Sprotbrough, Doncaster.

Owned by care provider Community Places, the new 16 bed facility has been funded with support from Royal Bank of Scotland and was officially opened by The Civic Mayor of Doncaster David Nevett on Friday August, 12.

Divided into three separate, self-contained care units, Community Places Sprotbrough provides both permanent and respite residential care.

In one of the units, there are four self-contained apartments each with its own bedroom, lounge, kitchen and en-suite bathroom.

The second unit is designed to cater for high dependency needs and contains five en-suite bedrooms, and a specialist bedroom with a separate sensory communal bathroom. The third part of the facility is a medium dependency unit with six en-suite bedrooms.

Community Places Sprotbrough also features a number of communal areas including four lounges, a dining room, a resident’ skills kitchen, two sensory showers, a hydrotherapy sensory bathroom and two snoozle rooms.

The new care facility is fitted with the latest security systems and each room has been designed to ensure that it is suitable for disabled access. All bedrooms and apartments have 24 hour staff support and Community Places has a choice of vehicles available which have been adapted to provide wheelchair access and support to residents so that local community facilities can be accessed.

Community Places runs four other specialist care facilities across Barnsley and Wakefield.

“The development has been a big project and has required a great deal of investment but I am pleased to say that the new facility is now up and running and we are looking forward to welcoming local families and providing them with the support they need.
