Counselling startup PlusGuidance to create smartphone app with £100k Crowdcube campaign
PlusGuidance, the London startup offering a digitally focused counselling service, is looking to raise £100k through crowdfunding website Crowdcube.
The company, launched by Nathaniel Smithies, allows people to speak to counsellors via secure video, voice and instant messaging sessions, or to arrange meeting the therapist in person.
Having already assisted hundreds of people in getting the help they need, PlusGuidance now plans to use its six-figure crowdfunding campaign to finance a new secure app that will allow people to access the services from their mobile.
As part of its offer, PlusGuidance manually verifies counsellors from all over the world, which means that if users can’t attend sessions during regular working hours or find they need to speak to someone at 2am, they will be connected with an overseas therapist from countries such as the US or Australia.
The campaign got underway last week (August 29) and since then has raised close to one quarter of its £100k target.
