Liverpool named UK’s top city for mobile performance
Liverpool is the best city in the UK when it comes to mobile performance, according to new data.
Figures released by mobile network information company RootMetrics have ranked 16 UK cities for mobile performance across calls, texts and data in H1 2016.
Liverpool was found to be top of the chart ahead of Belfast (in second place) and Edinburgh (third).
The city’s North West neighbour, Manchester, came fourth in the list.
To rank the 16 metro areas, RootMetrics looked at a combination of reliability and speed results from data, call and text testing, with an average score for each city calculated from performances observed on the EE, O2, Vodafone and Three networks.
Liverpool was previously beaten to the top spot by regional rival Manchester, back in RootMetrics’ H2 2015 study.
Scott Stonham, RootMetrics’ general manager for Europe, said: “Despite not coming first in any individual category, Liverpool’s high performance across all categories has secured it the top spot overall in our weighted averaged rankings.
“Yet it’s not just Liverpool that is showing improvement.”
He added: “Our capitals are showing great promise, with Edinburgh rising into the top five, Belfast finishing in the top two in the country and London’s improvements.”
London, which came 13th in the previous study, managed to climb to 10th place in the H1 2016 report.
