ATRY Basmati Rice Wins Coveted 3 Star & 2 Star iTQi Superior Taste Awards 2016
ATRY Basmati Rice, an AMIRA brand, has been officially honored with two major awards at the iTQi Superior Taste Awards 2016 in Europe
Today, Amira Nature Foods has announced that it is celebrating a double victory after it’s ATRY brand accepted two of the highest accolades at the iTQi Superior Taste Awards 2016 from the International Taste and Quality Institute in Brussels, Belgium. The award is the only stamp of quality in taste that is granted by food and beverage opinion leaders who are Michelin starred Chefs and Sommeliers.
ATRY, part of the Amira Nature Foods family, has received the highest seal of approval from a distinguished international judging panel in the form of two prizes for its range. ATRY Basmati Rice received the Superior Taste Award decorated with 3 golden stars, the highest honor that can be bestowed on a product, with an overall score above 90% for exceptional taste. ATRY Basmati Räucherreis (Smoked Rice) was awarded the Superior Taste Award with 2 golden stars for remarkable taste. Every entry was tested on a strictly blind basis, without packaging, and without any identifying markers.
“These are two exceptional results for Amira and ATRY at this year’s iTQi Superior Taste Awards in Europe. This puts a global spotlight on the excellent quality and flavor our products offer consumers as part of our basmati rice range,” asserted, Karan A. Chanana, Chairman, and CEO, Amira Nature Foods Ltd. “As part of our mission to remain the undisputed leader in quality on supermarket shelves, Amira has reached significant milestones with these accolades from world authorities in food excellence.”
The iTQi’s 17-country strong jury is comprised of members from prestigious culinary institutions across the continent of Europe including; the Maîtres Cuisiniers of France, the Académie Culinaire de France, the Academy of Culinary Arts, Euro-Toques, the Federazione Italiana Cuochi, the Nordic Chefs Association, the Federación de Cocineros de España (Facyre), the World Master Chefs Society, the Verband der Köche Deutschlands and Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI).
ATRY’s basmati products were strictly prepared, heated or cooked according to producer’s instructions and presented as if they were served at home in a specific sequential order. Judges tasted the products and assigned numeric scores based on their sensory analysis. The scores were precisely tallied to reflect the overall feeling of hedonistic pleasure (the most important weight in the final mark) and other criteria such as; vision, smell, texture, flavor, and mouthfeel.
