Engineering consultancy becomes first tenant at Manchester’s 45,000 sq ft Altitude scheme
North West engineering consultancy Simon Carves has become the first tenant to sign up for space at the Altitude scheme on Atlas Business Park, near Manchester Airport.
The company signed a deal with property investment and development firm MCR Property Group (MCR) for 10,152 sq ft on the ground floor of the property on a 10-year lease.
Simon Carves, which is relocating from the business park’s Simon House building, will have an option to occupy an additional 5,000 sq ft.
MCR acquired the three-storey, 45,415 sq ft Altitude scheme last year and, since then, has undertaken a comprehensive refurbishment to transform its interiors into Grade-A accommodation.
MCR Property Group asset manager Chris Lloyd said: “Few schemes in this area are able to provide the space needed to accommodate the larger requirements in the market.
“We saw a huge amount of potential in the building and were confident that, given the right investment, Altitude would appeal to these larger occupiers.”
Earlier this month, Simon Carves was acquired by US firm Engineers & Constructors International (ECI) from Indian engineering and construction firm Punj Lloyd.
The head of engineering at Simon Carves, Brian Cornah, commented: “We were keen to remain on Atlas Business Park but as a technology-led business which works with international clients, we needed a modern office which would support our ongoing growth.
“The timescales for our office relocation were incredibly tight and we are delighted at the support we have been given by the MCR team who have gone out of their way to make this move as straightforward as possible.”
He continued: “Our plans are for continued growth and development of Simon Carves both in the UK and internationally, working with the support of our parent company ECI backed by MES (Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Company Japan) and this new building provides us with the ideal platform to start that process.”
Canning O’Neill is a joint agent on the scheme alongside Cushman & Wakefield.
James Dickinson, director at Canning O’Neill, said: “In addition to Simon Carves, we’re receiving enquiries from businesses from outside of the area which are attracted to the benefits of being located in the Enterprise Zone.”
Comprising 225,000 sq ft of office space, Atlas Business Park is currently home to a number of national and international organisations, including telecoms giant Vodafone, professional services consultancy Coffey International and the Civil Aviation Authority regulator.
