New Alchemist bar and restaurant in Alderley Edge to create 40 jobs

The Alchemist is preparing to open its latest bar and restaurant in Alderley Edge as work on the former Grill on the Edge site moves forward.

The concept, from Cheshire-based leisure operator Living Ventures, will create around 40 new jobs when it launches on London Road this November.

Known for its cocktails and dining menus, The Alchemist brand already encompasses sites in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.

The Alderley Edge eatery will feature a two-storey glass façade and a central island bar on the ground level. In total, the venue will have a capacity of 150, with seats for 70 guests within its conservatory restaurant.

Dave Rotherham, who previously worked at both Alchemist sites in Manchester, has been chosen to lead a management team of four.

Alchemist MD Simon Potts said: “We are thrilled to be bringing The Alchemist to Alderley Edge.

“Some residents will already be aware of the brand from our Manchester sites and we’ve had a huge amount of enquiry and enthusiasm during development.”

He added: “We believe it will be a welcome addition to the bustling social scene in the village and we can’t wait to immerse ourselves in the local community.”

Living Ventures opened its first Alchemist in Spinningfields almost six years ago. With a projected turnover of £21m for the current financial year and more than 350 employees, the business operates two sites in Manchester, two in Leeds and one in Liverpool, Birmingham and London.

Work on a £1.7m Alchemist site at MediaCityUK is also well underway.
