Digital retailer does away with car salespeople for new Jaguar Land Rover concept at Westfield

Online car retailer Rockar has today (Monday) launched a new partnership with the Jaguar Land Rover outlet at Stratford Westfield that aims to do away with car salespeople and make car buying more accessible.

Rockar’s branded online platforms, which will be accompanied by an in-store brand experience at the Westfield outlet, give customers the ability to order a new Jaguar or Land Rover on finance through both online and mobile sites.

Customers will be able to choose from simple finance options and up to 18,000 vehicle configurations, distilled from popular choices from over 90,000 orders last year, to simplify the process of buying a new car.

The new online platforms will also be accompanied by in-store ‘brand experience’ at the Stratford shopping centre, providing the same digitally-led service with ‘Rockar Angels’ on hand to assist customers and interested parties.

Founder of York-based Rockar, Simon Dixon, said that the retailer’s innovations have been driven by putting the customer first, and that changing consumer habits meant car dealers had to adapt to a climate where convenience comes first.

He said: “We understand the car buying model needs to evolve and are committed to creating an integrated online and in store solution that can adapt to consumer behaviour and provide innovative purchasing options.

“Our technology allows greater transparency in the car buying for consumers, providing information on delivery times, financing costs and suggested specifications to make the experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.”

Jeremy Hicks, Managing Director at Jaguar Land Rover UK, commented that the new partnership with Rockar is part of the multinational car brand’s £1bn investment in its UK network.

He added: “It’s an exciting time for Jaguar Land Rover, we have a range of new models aimed at new customer groups and as such we are looking at how we can best serve our expanding customer base.

“Our retailers are investing £1bn in the UK network, and our partnership with Rockar represents some of the incremental new, innovative solutions that we are introducing to engage and serve our customers.”

Once opened, the Jaguar Land Rover space will join the Hyundai concept at Westfield Stratford which Rockar also operates.
