Deliveroo's new partnership with hospitality startup set to speed up delivery times

London-headquartered food delivery business Deliveroo has announced a new partnership with hospitality startup Flypay which it claims will cut down on delivery times.

The startup’s new Flyt platform aims to streamline order management by linking up Deliveroo’s order system with the electronic point of sale (EPOS) systems used in participating restaurants.

Thanks to the new partnership, orders on Deliveroo for Flyt-enabled locations will now be fed directly into the kitchen thus rapidly speeding up orders and cutting down on delivery times.

Founded in 2013, the startup, which is based near Kings Cross, has developed a number of technology-based products for the hospitality industry, including its Flypay app which enables diners to pay for their bill while sat at their table.

Flypay closed a significant £6.8m funding round in January 2015, which included backing from Time Out, and its app is currently supported in big-name eateries such as Jamie’s Italian and Wahaca.

In light of this new partnership, Tom Weaver, Chief Executive Officer at the company, commented: “Deliveroo is all about driving innovation in food delivery and we’re committed to pushing boundaries within hospitality tech, which makes for a great partnership.

“Our Flyt platform is already integrated with numerous EPOS providers, enabling us to remove a big hassle for operators by directing orders straight to the EPOS system.

“Nick Green, Deliveroo’s Head of Sales, described Flypay’s new platform as a ‘transformative technology’ and that they were ‘thrilled’ to be the startup’s inaugural partner.

He said: “Working with Flyt will allow us to streamline our processes for partner restaurants, meaning our riders can deliver from a customer’s favourite restaurant to their door in a shorter amount of time - dramatically improving the experience for restaurants and customers alike.”
