Some of the UK’s most loved lunchtime food and drink brands have pulled together behind the It’s Lunchtime campaign, targeting companies and business workers to ensure they take lunch.
Despite the fact that the UK’s lunch market is worth over a staggering £15b a year, many recent studies and reports have unveiled that around 2/3rds of working people still skip the meal due to being too busy.
Experts, however, including SimplyHealth, DR J Betts from the University of Bath and It’s Lunchtime are showing that lunch is an incredibly important source of energy to a body and should be eaten however busy to increase afternoon productivity.
Midday eating boosts not only physical energy, but also concentration and metabolism, essential for both work performance and weight loss, especially when combined with gentle exercise.
All too aware of these lunch benefits is the ‘It’s Lunchtime’ campaign which is about to hit the streets with leading lunchtime brands giving out inspiring samples with the aim of shaking up midday eating habits.
Putting their names to the campaign’s aims and ethos is a range of well known and tasty brands including Cathedral City, Carte Noire, NÄÂÂÂkd, Bahlsen PiCK UP! Clover and Kallo!
It’s Lunchtime head honcho Brian George says: “Lots of experts and authorities are talking about how important lunch and light exercise is to ensure you perform to your best for the rest of the day at work … Even business minded celebrities like Carol Vorderman are shouting out about it!
“At It’s Lunchtime, we and the amazing brands we have coordinated, believe it needs more than talk – it needs action! So we’ve decided to show as many people as possible how much better you feel after eating the right things at lunchtimes. To do this we are giving out over 300,000 food and drink samples that will boost midday energy and afternoon work performance.
“There are lots of healthy options and eating lunch boosts physical ability, brain power and metabolism, especially when combined with light #lunchercise, which leaves you ready for the next work challenge of the day!”
From this weekend the Roadshow will reach nearly half-a-million people over four weeks to highlight that the second meal of the day is important to health and performance, no matter where you eat it. And that by following the #lunchercise tips such as The Desk Chair Swivel and Desk Push Ups, health, focus and wellbeing will improve.
Appearing at London Victoria and Waterloo train stations as well as 30 Tesco and Sainsbury’s large stores over four weeks of lip-smacking lunch tasting sessions, money saving vouchers will also be given out – details of locations can be found on the website.
The four weeks will also see plenty of exciting giveaways of Lip-smacking Lunchboxes and there is advice, hints, tips and recipes across social media @LivenUpLunch and on the website wwww.itslunchtime.co.uk
