The Wondrwall software works by learning household behavioural trends

Manchester tech company Wondrwall warms up with £2m funding package

Tech firm Wondrwall Limited has secured a £2m financing package from NatWest.

The Manchester-based company, which has developed a system that automatically controls the property’s heating, lighting and security, will use the seven-figure funding to drive its growth plans forward.

Comprising both hardware and built-in software, Wondrwall’s system turns a home into one that can operate on its own based on occupants’ individual behaviours and living habits.

Other systems available today can be controlled remotely through mobile devices, but the Wondrwall software works by learning household behavioural trends and adjusting home settings accordingly. This can include putting the lights on when householders wake up and adjusting heating when the property is occupied.

Wondrwall’s founder and CEO, Daniel Burton, said: “Wondrwall began as an energy-saving product, tasked with saving the billions being wasted from heating and lighting empty homes.

“During our development cycle the home technology market saw the arrival of a fragmented landscape of devices to control your boiler, lighting, security and more.”

He continued: “Compounding the problem of requiring multiple devices to improve your home’s efficiency was the issue that they all seemed to lack intelligence, requiring significant user input to operate effectively.

“We knew Wondrwall could be so much more than just an energy saving system, so we extended functionality to include lifestyle personalisation, safety and security features.”

Wondrwall’s deal with NatWest includes facilities from bank partners RBSIF and Lombard.

The agreement was supported by NatWest technology sector relationship manager Matt Mawdesley.

Matt commented: “Wondrwall is a fantastic system that will no doubt change households around the world.

“Daniel and the team have developed a fantastic product that is both innovative and functional.”

He added: “We welcome our new relationship with Wondrwall and look forward to working with the team in the future as the business goes from strength to strength.”
