Ellis has seen the installation of its cable cleats in Costa Rica for the first time.

North Yorkshire cable cleat manufacturer exports to Costa Rica for the first time

ICE (instituto Costarricence de Electricidad), the Costa Rican electricity authority, has become the first organisation in Costa Rica to install Ellis cable cleats in an electrical installation.

The specification, which was placed by Siemens through Ellis’ local distributor, Electroval, has seen the North Yorkshire company’s 2F flame retardant Polymeric clamps installed in substations in Coyol and Jacó.

Tony Conroy, Ellis’ sales director, said: “Winning the first specification in a new country is always a challenge, but in Costa Rica the job was made a lot easier thanks to ICE’s determination to have the safest installation possible.

“The team at ICE was well aware of the dangers posed by a short circuit and once they had been introduced to our cleats through Electroval they were adamant they were exactly what was needed to ensure the installation was properly safe.”

Ellis, based in Malton, was introduced to the Costa Rican market by an export model that sees the company first appoint a local distributor, which reduces the amount of time it takes to establish the Ellis name and brand in a new country.

At present, Ellis has local distributors in 30 different countries, as well as a business development manager, Gabriela Castro-Fontoura, who was appointed to handle the Latin American countries.

Tony added: “We are the world’s leading cable cleat manufacturer and our distributor network is the major reason for this.

“Without it there is no way we could operate so successfully across so many different markets, but with it we know we are at the forefront of specification consideration for virtually every major power, oil and gas, and infrastructure project, no matter where in the world it is.”

Manufactured as standard in black Polypropylene or black flame retardant VO Zero Halogen Phosphorous (LSF), Ellis’ one hole and two hole polymeric cable clamps can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications.
