École Polytechnique announces new international programs

École Polytechnique, France’s most prestigious university of science and technology, is launching new academic programs taught exclusively in English, designed to build on its expertise in the development of world-class researchers and global business leaders and meet the needs of international students.

Breaking away from traditional courses taught in French, École Polytechnique now offers five new Graduate Degree Programs for the coming academic year, and a new Bachelor Degree to start in 2017 – the first undergraduate program in École Polytechnique’s history.

In addition to the unique four-year Polytechnicien Engineering program, international students will now have the opportunity to join high-level, demanding, multidisciplinary curricula that combine science, humanities, management and sports at either Bachelor or Graduate degree level. In addition to their course material, all international students will also be taught the French language and culture.

The Bachelor Degree is a three year program with a multidisciplinary core and an emphasis on mathematics. After the first year, students choose to specialise in mathematics with either computer science, physics, or economics. The Bachelor has been designed to open the doors of top-level graduate degrees worldwide. Students also receive coaching and support to access the most prestigious Master’s programs around the globe. Applications open in November 2016.

The five new Graduate degree programs are two years long and offer high-level scientific training and education in innovation management to closely match the demands of the job market. These programs, designed for graduates to lead the tech companies of tomorrow, are –

“École Polytechnique is a university with a long tradition dating back to 1794. From the beginning, it was designed to select the best students and give them intense training in cutting-edge science to prepare them for careers in science, industry or the administration,“ says Frank Pacard, Vice-President for academic affairs.

“The new international programs maintain the spirit of École Polytechnique based on multidisciplinary, high-level scientific training combined with education in humanities and social sciences, but have been developed to fit international standards and thereby complete École Polytechnique’s academic offer. We are already home to more than sixty nationalities, but we believe these new programs will move us to a whole new level of diversity and internationalism.“
