SME energy switching brand SwitchMy.com to create 50 jobs with Preston launch
A new digital brand offering energy switching services for SMEs is set to create dozens of jobs in Preston.
Simon Iredale and Steven Ormand, directors at Preston-based marketing agency Motionlab, teamed up with Anthony Mayall, a former board director of energy consultancy Inenco Group, to launch SwitchMy.com.
With the new online comparison and switching service, the trio plan to create 50 new jobs.
SwitchMy.com will operate with a no-cold-calling policy and give SMEs access to offers from over 20 business energy suppliers.
Anthony Mayall, who will head up the new venture, said: “Thousands of businesses are needlessly wasting millions of pounds on gas and electricity every year by not shopping around for a cheaper supplier.
“It’s time for businesses to adopt the same approach to business utilities as they would do with home insurance or energy suppliers.”
He continued: “Whilst the recent Competition and Markets Authority review highlighted that energy suppliers are benefiting hugely from domestic consumers not switching, it’s the SME consumers that came off worst – paying the highest profit margins.
“SwitchMy.com offers SMEs a quick and transparent way of finding the lowest rates possible for their business gas and electricity. It’s early days, however, we are already saving our customers an average of over £3,000 per year.”
Motionlab chief exec Simon Iredale commented: “We live in a society of empowerment where the user educates themselves on benefits and makes informed choices.
“SwitchMy is an extremely open brand that will grow to be one of the biggest hubs for business savings in Europe.
“Our challenge was to develop a stand-out brand within what can often be perceived as a very dry and serious sector and deliver a high impact digital disruption strategy that generates inbound enquiries and sales from business owners that want to save money.”
Speaking further, Simon said the development of SwitchMy.com was a collaborative effort that “touched every team member” at Motionlab, from its those in its branding and design studio through to its web development team and marketing division.
He added: “We’re looking forward to playing a big role in the SwitchMy journey as it adds new services to its repertoire.”
