Continued growth leads Fulcrum to expand into Scotland

Fulcrum, the Sheffield-based independent multi-utility services provider, has expanded its directly managed service delivery model in Scotland.

The business, which is the only independent utility infrastructure provider servicing the whole of Britain, designs and delivers gas, electricity and water pipelines and connections.

The directly managed service delivery model, rolled out in England and Wales in 2015 has significantly contributed towards Fulcrum’s profits hitting £4.3m before tax for the year ending 31 March 2016, up from £600k million in the previous year.

In the current financial year, Fulcrum has already increased the value of its order book by 11%.

As a result of this business growth, the company has now recruited direct delivery teams in Scotland to manage all elements of its utility projects from initial consultation through to project completion.

Martin Donnachie, chief executive officer of Fulcrum, said: “Fulcrum’s highly skilled direct workforce will create an even more powerful platform to deliver continued growth through customer-focused operations in Scotland.”

The new direct delivery teams were launched at Fulcrum’s new depot in Cumbernauld where the workforce were given an insight into the organisation’s strategy, took part in a range of training exercises and met new colleagues.

During the induction, the teams were introduced to the company’s tablet devices, which include bespoke applications to enable engineers to maintain real-time records of projects and offer responsive delivery.

Martin continued: “Since the introduction of the direct delivery model in England and Wales, Fulcrum’s customer satisfaction levels have hit record highs, confidence has grown and the company has increased its capacity.

“Expanding the model to Scotland is the next logical step for Fulcrum, creating a more agile and responsive team for our Scottish operations.”
