Brixton Brazilian eatery coming to Boxpark Croydon

Independent Brazilian restaurant Carioca is bringing its brand of Rio streetfood to Boxpark Croydon as part of the new leisure destination’s grand opening.

The Brixton-based restaurant is set to open officially on Monday 31 October just in time for Boxpark’s grand opening on Saturday 29 October.

Open seven days a week the streetfood unit will serve up Brazilian food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as fruit juices, coffee and cocktails, with different menus rotating throughout the day.

Carioca, which takes its name from the people of Rio de Janeiro, was launched by founder Maurilio Goncalves in Brixton’s Market Row back in 2012 with head chef Lucineia Cinotti serving up their take on traditional Brazilian cuisine, taking influences from Portuguese, African and native South American traditions.

Ahead of the opening of the new outlet, Goncalves commented: “We are very excited to be part of the lineup opening at Boxpark Croydon alongside so many other fantastic traders.

“We can’t wait to give everyone a taste of true Brazil’s amazing flavours, bright colours, lively atmosphere and warm hospitality!”

After slipping from its summer opening, Boxpark Croydon is now on course for its grand opening later this month and will be the second Boxpark leisure concept in the capital after Boxpark Shoreditch.
