Unite Students granted planning consent for £70m Liverpool scheme
Developer Unite Students is set to create 1,085 new student bedrooms in Liverpool city centre.
The company has secured planning consent for a £70m scheme to be built alongside its existing Grand Central student village, bringing its development pipeline in the city to more than 5,000 beds.
Once complete, the property will serve students from both the University of Liverpool and John Moores.
Richard Simpson, Unite Students’ managing director of property, said: “We are delighted to have secured planning consent for this site in Liverpool, which is one of the UK’s most popular university cities, with a growing student population and where we have significant experience having operated for over 15 years.
“This development will help to meet the strong demand for student accommodation and provide a safe and secure home for students.”
He added: “We will continue to progress our secured pipeline which remains focused on regional locations with strong student markets.”
The site is forecast to open in time for the 2019/20 academic year
