Deliveroo to move to new 51,500 sq ft HQ in the heart of the City

On-demand delivery startup Deliveroo is set for a five-fold increase in its London office footprint after agreeing to take a new 51,500 sq ft headquarters in the City.

The firm, which has expanded massively since it was founded in 2013, has agreed to let offices at the refurbished 283,000 sq ft Cannon Bridge House development in the City of London in what is being interpreted as a snub to the capital’s hip tech enclaves.

According to Property Week, Deliveroo had charged BDG Sparkes Porter to find it a new home earlier in the year after outgrowing its current 10,500 sq ft headquarters at the Heal’s Building in Fitzrova.

The search had initially centered around fringe areas around the City of London, such as Shoreditch, but with rents in the capital’s tech belt now surpassing those in City the startup has opted to rub shoulders with the big banks and financiers in the Square Mile.

“The decision was purely building led,” an unnamed source told Property Week. “They loved the building. Tenants, now, aren’t as concerned about location but the building itself and what it can offer.”

The move comes at a time of significant growth for Deliveroo, which has continued its global expansion following a $275m Series E investment round in August.
