Barton Legal win Niche Law Firm award

Boutique law firm Barton Legal has been crowned Niche Law Firm at the Yorkshire Legal Awards, which took place at New Dock Hall in Leeds on 13th October. The award was given to the Rawdon-based company in recognition of its commercial property, construction and engineering legal expertise.

Founded in 2007 by Bill and Trish Barton, the six-strong firm has established a reputation for its straight forward and cost effective, non-contentious construction advice here in Yorkshire, nationwide and internationally.

It regularly assists larger solicitor’s practices, as well as working directly for developers, construction companies and renewable energy providers in Europe and Africa.

Recent notable projects include:

providing contractual and construction set up advice for an Italian company building a £200m bio-ethanol plant in Tunisia – one of the largest of its kind in the world arranging framework contracts for a German client developing solar power plants in Chile and Argentina representing an Israeli hedge fund investing in UK solar and wind farm projects.

Commenting on the award, director Bill Barton said: “To have our work recognised in this way is fantastic. We have been shortlisted a couple of times in the Niche Law Firm category before but there’s nothing quite like getting the top prize!

“Our straight talking combined with the depth of our construction and property law knowledge certainly seems to be getting us noticed. We’ve attracted some very interesting and sizable projects in the past 12 months, particularly in the renewable energy sector.”
