Horwich Farrelly boosts Manchester team with 13 qualified solicitors
Insurance industry law firm Horwich Farrelly has offered 13 trainee solicitors full-time contracts following their successful qualification.
In a bid to invest in the next generation of legal professionals, the company has assigned the fresh faces to its Manchester-based defendant services, counter fraud, credit hire and costs teams.
Horwich Farrelly said it is one of the only insurance-focused practices to exclusively offer training contracts to existing employees. Doing so allows it to slash the programme from the standard two years to 18 months, since trainees will already have experience working in a busy practice and dealing with a caseload.
Donna Deakin, who joined the firm on a summer internship three years ago, is among the latest cohort of qualified solicitors.
She commented: “Since being offered a training contract at Horwich Farrelly, I have been entrusted with providing support to new members of the team and also sourcing news and results to produce monthly updates for clients.
“The whole experience has given me the confidence to develop and grow within the firm and offers the support I need to build my career.”
To ensure it has the resources to sustain its ongoing growth strategy, Horwich Farrelly said it has a further 26 trainees due to qualify in 2017. Additionally, six new trainee roles will start this month.
Rob Barrett, the managing partner of Manchester-headquartered Horwich Farrelly, said: “We are committed to nurturing talent within the firm, helping us to meet the needs of our clients.
“Our training approach means we can play a real role in cultivating the next generation of solicitors and legal professionals, giving opportunities to people who may not have considered taking the traditional route into a legal career.”
He continued: “These trainees have now become qualified solicitors due to their hard work and commitment and we look forward to supporting them as they develop their careers at Horwich Farrelly.”
