Mother and daughter duo to ‘revolutionise the samosa’ with Liverpool pastry business
A mother and daughter team are looking to revolutionise the common samosa with their new artisan pastry-making business.
Kay and Sanya Wadud, the founders of Liverpool-based Perfect Samosa, will be plating up their creations in the run-up to the Christmas markets across the North West, including those at Spinningfields and Salford Quays.
Perfect Samosa offers hand-crafted gourmet samosas with a twist. Each culinary creation replaces traditional ciabatta with crispy filo pastry for fillings ranging from a savoury butternut squash and coriander to Nutella and fudge brownies.
For this year’s Yuletide festivities, Kay and Sanya have added a number of Christmas creations to their menu, including vegan spiced pumpkin, sweet potato and coriander; honey-glazed Bengali-style roasted lamb with rosemary; and apple-glazed turkey with spiced chestnut and sage stuffing.
Kay said: “We started the business in January this year from our kitchen and have just been amazed by the response we have had.
“We have been selling at food and drink festivals across the North West and also supply local cafes.”
She added: “We also provide catering for special events. We have been named a BBC Good Food Show Champion so will be attending some of their food shows in the months ahead.
Speaking further, Kay said the company uses only locally sourced and fresh seasonal produce.
She continued: “We like to experiment with flavours and want to revolutionise the traditional samosa.
“Right now our vegan butternut squash samosa is incredibly popular but we are really excited about what we are putting together for Christmas.”
